Fountain Day 2003
Fountain Day 2003 ideas

Fountain Day was inspired by the anonymous dyeing of Philadelphia's JFK Plaza fountain water light pink in late May 2003.
The idea of tinting and/or bubbling fountains took hold right away and momentum gathered quickly behind the suggestion of a mass synchronised action. A date was set - Friday 13th of June 2003 - and the idea snowballed.
Around the world, countless numbers of glamourbombers, culture jammers, poetic terrorists and more are preparing to tint their local water feature an appealing colour or fill their local fountain with mountains of bubbles in a wanton act of creative aesthetics that may only last for mere hours but will be a liberation from the grey of the concrete cages we build for ourselves.

This is not an organised event. Each fountain in each city will be autonomously tinted or bubbled by individuals acting under their own volition. Able persons wishing to tint or bubble a fountain in their city on Friday 13th of June are not encouraged to break any laws or guidelines their area's governing bodies may have regarding such activities.
For the safety of wildlife participants are urged to use foodsafe dyes and nontoxic bubblebath and to avoid using detergents as they can harm waterfowl.  Ducks and pigeons are still wildlife.
If you should spot a fountain or waterfeature that has been tinted or bubbled on Fountain Day, please send a photo to fountain_day@yahoo.co.uk for the gallery, and don't forget to tell us which city your fountain is in!
